Code Department of Fountain, CO
2006 Colorado Association of Code Enforcement Officials
Department of the Year

This is the first year that our association has given a DOTY award, and this very first award went to Fountain, Colorado, a small community with a very big heart! Fountain has two full-time code officers (including the supervisor) and one part-time officer. According to Juan Flores, the supervisor, the thing that makes their department so special is their “esprit de corp, and that they conduct themselves with honor, integrity, and fairness.” Lisa Cochrun, the Fountain Economic Development Director says that there are three traits that the code department displays, and they are, “professional, caring, calm under fire.” She ended her Letter of Recommendation by saying, “I think Juan and his crew deserve department of the year many times over!!”

Arica Feuerstein of Commerce City
2006 Colorado Association of Code Enforcement Officials
Officer of the Year

This year’s COOTY award went to Arica Feuerstein of Commerce City. Her award included a beautiful trophy and a check for $350.00. Arica received several outstanding letters of recommendation from her supervisor, Chris Collins, and from the Director of Neighborhood Services, Sheri Chavez. To quote a bit from her supervisor, “Arica consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic and positive influence with the other inspectors. This year she received an “exceptional” evaluation for her commitment to the position and participation in the evolution of the department.”

We are pleased and honored to present to the Colorado Association of Code Enforcement Official our Code Officer of the Year, Arica Feuerstein. Thank you Arica for doing an outstanding job and for holding high the standards of our profession. We are all proud of you.
